Bhubaneswar to witness Bali Jatra this year!

Bhubaneswar: The city denizens are eagerly waiting to witness the historic Bali Jatra on outskirts here after their expectation was faded away with no consent from the Commissionerate police previous year.

The second annual Bali Jatra is likely to be held on Kuakhai River banks near at Patia Bandha near Jaripatna on outskirts of Bhubaneswar from Nov 23 to 30.

With the inauguration of the Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra Committee office by Bhubaneswar (north) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra on Friday, some positive signal is expected from the administration to hold the event that marks the maritime glory of Odisha.

Inaugurating the Bali Jatra Committee office, the local MLA assured the representatives of around 50 villages to extend all necessary help from the administration for organising Bali Jatra here.

He wished for the success of the Bali Jatra on Bhubaneswar outskirts.

Last year, the Commissionerate police had denied giving permission for Bali Jatra in Bhubaneswar due to various reasons.

However, the Committee is expecting to hold the event successfully for eight days this year.

According to reports, the Bali Jatra in Bhubaneswar will feature around 500 stalls, two stages, various types of swings and cultural programmes every evening.

The plan is underway for parking of vehicles and fire safety issues. The stall booking has also started after the inauguration of the office yesterday.
