Bhubaneswar: Woman Postal Agent held for embezzling crores of rupees of deposits

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested a woman Postal Agent for allegedly misappropriating crores of rupees of deposits.

The accused, identified as Swarnalata Das, was apprehended from Jagatsinghpur.

According to reports, Swarnalata, a resident of Old Town area here, had identified herself as a Postal Agent and received money from many depositors during the last two years.

However, she had embezzled the money fraudulently.

A victim had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Lingaraj Police, on the basis of which an investigation was underway.

Following the arrest, as many as 127 Postal Passbooks of 98 depositors were seized from her house by the police.

Further probe in this matter was underway.
