Bihar announces a complete ban on liquor

New Delhi, April 5:

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), a partner in the Bihar government with the Janata Dal-United (JD-U), on Tuesday welcomed the complete ban on liquor announced in the state. “What we promised, we delivered in a short time,” it said.

And in a very short span of time, it has translated that commitment to reality,” RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha told IANS.

On Tuesday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a complete ban on all kinds of liquor sale in the state.

Earlier, the state government banned country-made liquor, and on Tuesday it banned Indian-made foreign liquor.

“Basically, this ban on all kinds and all forms of liquor is simply a logical extension of what was done a few days back,” Jha added.

With this, Bihar becomes the fourth dry state in the country after Gujarat, Nagaland and Manipur. (IANS)
