Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana: CM puts Odisha officials on toes

Lauding the satisfactory progress made in construction of houses in rural areas in the districts of Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPYC), Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday asked collectors of other districts to emulate the success module adopted by these districts.

At a  review of  progress made in  construction of houses in rural areas with collectors and SPs of all districts through video conferencing here, the Chief Minister stressed on giving special attention to creating awareness among beneficiaries, training of masons and supply of building materials at affordable cost.

If progress is not achieved in construction of houses under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana even after reminders, prompt action will be taken against the concerned officials, warned Patnaik.

The Chief Minister directed RDCs to take special measures on this account and asked the Panchayati Raj secretary to visit districts and review the progress of work under the scheme.

It may be noted here that the state government has decided to convert all kuccha houses to pucca houses in the state under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

Patnaik asked collectors to double their efforts in this regard to meet the objective of the state government.

Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahu, Development Commissioner and Secretary Panchayati Raj department were present during the review by the Chief Minister.
