Bike-lifter arrested, 6 bikes seized

The Commissionerate police on Thursday arrested a bike lifter from Khandapada area in Nayagarh district in connection with the theft of bikes from various locations in the city.

The arrested person, identified as Mrutyunjaya Das (19) alias Jaga of Pedarpada under Rajkanika police limits in Kendrapada district, was staying at Tarini Nagar of Salia Sahi in Nayapali here, said Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Nayapalli police station Anup Kanungo. After committing the crime, the accused had left the city and was staying at his native place to avoid arrest, he added.

Nayapalli police seized six motorcycles from Das. Besides, three laptops and 1100 coins, including some foreign currency, were also seized from his possession. He was involved in three different cases registered in Nayapalli and Capital police stations in the city. The accused has been forwarded to the court, police said.
