Biopic on Odisha activist Tulasi Munda bags top honours at IFFS

Amiya Patnaik directed biopic on the life of renowned social activist Tulasi Munda has added another feather in its cap as it has been adjudged the ‘Best Feature Film’ at the recently concluded second edition of International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS).

The two-hour biographical movie moved the audiences at the conference hall of the venue on the concluding day of the fest on Sunday.

“We are delighted to hear that our film has bagged the Best Feature Film award at the international film festival. I got a call as well as an e-mail from the IFFS this morning intimating about the same. This is the second award the movie has received. Our movie has been selected for several other international events also,” Producer of the movie, Anupam Patnaik told OST.

Notably, the movie has won two international awards in a span of less than a month. Last month, the movie was screened at 1st Haryana International Film Festival-2016 where the debutante Barsha Nayak won the Best Actress award in the Feature Film Category.

The movie has been produced by Anupam Patnaik under the banner of AP Production. The cast of the film includes: Barsha Nayak, Madhusmita, Lochani Bag, Premanjan Parida, Mamata Panda and Sujit Paikray.

The movie, which encapsulates various struggles and achievements of the Padmashree awardee, has been shot in her birthplace as well as various parts of Keonjhar.

Earlier, the movie has been screened at prestigious film festivals like 21st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), 8th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) and 8th Nasik International Film Festival.
