Bizarre: Cat shot dead in Odisha Capital; one held

Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident, a cat was allegedly shot dead by a miscreant in Unit-IV area in Bhubaneswar today. According to the pet cat’s owner, he came out of his house after hearing the sound of gunfire.

To his dismay the pet owner found that the cat was in a pool of blood with bullet injury in its head near the boundary wall of the house. He immediately took the feline to the veterinary hospital of OUAT. But due to excessive bleeding, the cat succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. Later doctors declared the cat brought dead.

The pet owner alleged that an engineering student staying in the locality has shot dead the cat. He further said earlier the student in question had shot dead many stray dogs, cats and birds.

Based on a complaint lodged by the pet owner at Kharvela Nagar police station, police have arrested one Ashutosh Nayak studying engineering at a college in Bhubaneswar.

Few days back, a cab driver was arrested for allegedly running over four puppies in the Odisha Capital.
