Bizarre! Needle pierced, hot oil splashed on face to cure ailments in Odisha

Angul: Two persons fell prey to their blind faith on sorcery in Odisha’s Angul district as two different sorcerers, whom they approached for curing their ailments, reportedly splashed hot mustard oil on the face of one of them and pierced needle into the face of another.

According to reports, one Muna Ghadei (22) of Chhendipada block here complained of stomach ache two days ago. However, instead of consulting a doctor, he sought the help of a sorcerer in the village cure his pain.

The sorcerer, as per his practice, splashed hot mustard oil on Muna’s face following which he sustained burn injuries. He was yesterday admitted to the Angul district headquarters hospital (DHH) in a critical condition, where his condition was stated to be stable after primary treatment.

In a similar incident in Kothabhuin area of Athmallik block here, a sorcerer reportedly pierced hot needle into the face of one Harekrushna Nayak (35) in a bid to cure his headache following which he became critical and was admitted to the DHH.
