BJD alleges BJP’s involvement in Chhatrapur Councillor murder in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Couple of days after Ganjam SP Ashish Kumar Singh named BJP Ganjam district unit secretary Krushnachandra Nayak as the prime conspirator in the murder of councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan, the BJD today alleged that the saffron party has involvement in the incident.

“The BJP is involved in the murder. Krushnachandra Nayak was inducted into BJP at Mo Booth Sabuthu Majboot programme of the party. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP national president Amit Shah were present at the event and shared the same stage with Nayak. Didn’t they know about his antecedents before including him in the party?,” said BJD spokesperson Prashanta Nanda citing a photograph of the programme in which Nayak, Dharmendra Pradhan and Amit Shah can be seen on the same stage.

Refuting the allegation, BJP said the incident was a fallout of rivalry between MLA Priyanshu Pradhan and Laxmidutta.

“A dispute was going on between BJD’s Chhatrapur MLA Priyanshu Pradhan and deceased councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan. The MLA is the main conspirator of the murder. In order to protect him, Ganjam SP is taking the name of Krushnachandra Nayak as the main accused. The police official should go by the CCTV footage and carry out investigation accordingly,” said Golak Mohapatra, BJP spokesperson.

Worth mentioning, Krushnachandra Nayak went absconding after the murder, said SP Singh at a press meet on Tuesday.

Notably, the BJD councillor was hacked to death by a group of armed miscreants on September 16 while he was sitting in front of his house in Suryanagar with some students.
