Bhubaneswar, Jan 26:
On the fourth consecutive day today, BJD and BJP leaders continued their war of words over the inauguration of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL)’s Paradip refinery as each tried to claim the credit for mega-plant.
While BJD leaders issued statements claiming the State government’s contribution in developing Paradip town and facilitating the plant there, BJP was in no mood to cede an inch.
“Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee laid the foundation stone of the plant. Current Prime Minister will dedicate it to the nation. Both of them are from BJP. Why should BJP not take credit for it,” questioned BJP National Secretary Suresh Pujari.
“This anyway is a national project and a matter of pride for the state. It is inferiority complex on part of those who are playing politics on the plant. She, who delivered the baby, should get the maternal rights. Attempting to take credit on everything is outright ridiculous,” he added taking an indirect jibe at BJD.
BJD, on the other hand, stuck back and raked up the campaign vehicle issue too.
“As a national project, it is indeed a matter of pride for Odisha and Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal deserves the honour. There would be no IOCL without a Paradip. There is always a mother to the mother,” retorted BJD spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera.
Meanwhile, the Information and Public Relations department of Odisha government yesterday sought a report from the Jagatsinghpur collector regarding inclusion of images of Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the propaganda vehicles that were dispatched to various districts of the state on January 23. http://odishasuntimes.com/2016/01/23/let-iocl-not-be-a-medium-of-political-propaganda-says-bjd/
Information and Public Relations Secretary Manoranjan Panigrahi last evening asked the Collector Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya to check if inclusion of his image violates the Supreme Court guideline that bars usage of images of ministers in government issued advertisements.
