BJD supporter killed in poll violence in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur, Feb 21:

A Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supporter was killed in a poll violence in Mardhakot panchayat under Beguniapada block in Odisha’s Ganjam district last night.

The deceased was identified as Pitambar Swain.

According to reports, a clash erupted between two groups in the panchayat last night ahead of the fifth and final phase of rural polls in the state.

While 8-9 persons were injured in the incident, Pitambar was mercilessly thrashed and hacked as a result of which he sustained grievous injuries.

He was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur where doctor declared him brought dead.
