BJD wins Attabira NAC poll; Banamali Bariha elected as chairperson

Bargarh: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) emerged victorious in the poll to Attabira Notified Area Council (NAC) in Odisha’s Bargarh district.

While the voting was held on April 3, the results were declared today.

BJD’s Banamali Bariha defeated his nearest rival Sabita Bhue by a margin of 4828 votes to secure the NAC Chairperson post. While Bariha got 6565 votes, as many as 1737 votes were polled in the favour of Bhue. Similarly, BJP candidate Laxmi Behera ended up at third position with 1532 votes.

The BJD won 11 out of 12 wards while Congress secured one seat.

Attabira NAC having around 13,520 voters had recorded a voter turnout of 74 per cent during the poll, which was held at 16 booths.

Four candidates were in the fray for the chairperson post which was reserved for ST.
