BJD youth leader ends life in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Following the incident, BJP leaders expressed condolences for Prasad's untimely demise. Police said a case of un-natural death has been registered and investigation is underway. 

Sundargarh:  A youth leader of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) allegedly died by suicide in Sundargarh district of Odisha on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Dhiraj Prasad, the party’s Sundargarh town president. He was reportedly found hanging at his residence in Bhitiriapada locality of the town.

Official sources said the reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained. As the news spread, hundreds of BJD workers along with locals were seen gathering at the residence of the deceased. Sources said Prasad was popular among locals as an amiable and people-friendly leader and it is still unknown what prompted him to take such an extreme step.
