Boudh, Aug 4:

Normal life was disrupted in Odisha’s Boudh district today due to a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the BJP demanding the arrest of BJD supporters who had allegedly thrashed some workers of the saffron party at Manamunda here on July 29.

While shops and business establishments remained closed, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt as BJP activists were seen picketing and blocking roads at several places in Boudh town, sources said.

The effect of the bandh was also seen in Harbhanga and Kantamal areas in the district, sources added.

“The accused BJD workers are yet to be arrested. Protesting police inaction in the matter and demanding arrest of the culprits, the district BJP unit has given a 12-hour bandh call in Boudh,” district BJP president Soumitri Nayak had said yesterday.

Notably, several BJD supporters, including an MLA, had allegedly thrashed some BJP workers after the latter showed black flags to Ministers Sanjay Das Burma and Pushpendra Singh Deo at Manamunda.
