BHUBANESWAR, July 30

With the 2014 elections drawing near, the state wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today decided to prepare a ‘charge sheet’ against the Naveen Patnaik government on a host of issues including the deteriorating law and order situation, the chit fund scam and the poor quality of mid-day meal served to school students in Odisha.

“We have decided to reach out to the common man and organize rallies at revenue division level and Bhubaneswar in the coming three months. We are working on the schedule and will finalise it soon,” state BJP general secretary Suresh Pujari told media persons after a series of meetings of party leaders at the state headquarters of the party here today.bjp

District presidents, district Pravaris, office bearers and general secretaries of the party met in batches all through the day to assess the political, economic, social and law and order situation in the state and chalk out a strategy for the ensuing elections.

“People have suffered a lot during the rule of the Naveen Patnaik government. Cases of theft, loot, kidnapping, murder, rape and fraud have increased manifold during the BJD rule. The government has miserably failed to maintain law and order situation in the state. Ironically, the Chief Minister himself has held the Home portfolio for much of his rule,” said Pujari.

The senior BJP leader accused the BJD government of taking the state on the path to anarchy. “The inefficiency of the Odisha government has led the state to anarchy. Both the Centre and state are misleading the people with their defunct, ineffective announcements. Both have entered into a secret deal to loot people. The multi-crore mining scam, Coalgate and chit fund scams have exposed their unholy nexus,” he said.
