BJP Yuva Morcha activists detained in Odisha capital

About a hundred activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) were today detained by the Twin City Commissionerate police when they clashed with them in their attempt to break through the barricade near the lower PMG square to enter the Odisha Assembly.

Hundreds of BJYM workers who marched in a rally from the BJP state headquarters  via Master Canteen square to the state Assembly were stopped at the lower PMG square by the police.

BJYM workers were protesting against the collection of Rs 100 from BPUT students for placement and were demanding the resignation of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Das Burma for his involvement in the chit fund scam and NFSA irregularities.

“They are in government for the last 16 years but they have done nothing for the youth in these years. The BJD in these years has failed in its promise to provide jobs to youths,” said Manasi Manjari Ray, an office bearer of BJYM speaking to reporters at lower PMG square.

“We took to the streets against the corruption of the Naveen Patnaik government. We are protesting against the collection of Rs 100 from BPUT students by the government in the name of providing them with jobs. We demand the immediate resignation of Naveen Patnaik and Sanjay Das Burma. We will take our protests to mandal and block levels,” said another office bearer of BJYM.
