Black money deposited in SHG accounts: Cuttack DCP

The amount deposited in the Jan Dhan accounts of a self-help group (SHG) in Odisha’s Cuttack recently was black money, informed city DCP Sanjeev Arora today.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that black money was deposited in those accounts. A staff of a finance company has transferred the amount online. The persons involved in the incident will be arrested soon,” Arora said.

Notably, 13 members of Tulasi SHG in Jagatpur area had lodged an FIR with Jagatpur police on December 28 alleging transactions through their Jan Dhan accounts in State Bank of India’s Gopinathpur branch without their knowledge.

About Rs 2,500 was reportedly deposited and withdrawn from each account between November 11 and December 25.
