Malkangiri, Jan 25:

Bodies of the three tribals, who had remained untraced since January 20 following a boat capsize, were finally recovered by the villagers from Sileru river in the cut-off area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Saturday.

The bodies have been identified as B Chinna Rao (the boatman) of Sanyasiguda village, B Bajeya and B Mateya of Koradundagandi village.

According to reports, the two deceased of Koradundagandi village of Kurnamur panchayat had gone to Mariguda village in the bordering Andhra Pradesh in a boat to bring the PDS rice on January 20.

On their return, the boatman lost control as a result of which the boat lost its balance and capsized in Sileru river.

Though the local villagers and the district administration had searched the area to locate the three persons including the boatman, the bodies had remained untraced.

After six days, some people of Sanyasiguda village found the three bloated bodies floating on the river water and later brought them back.

The bodies were later handed over to the family members for cremation.
