Soren, a resident of Bandhapali village under Sadar police station of Sundargarh, had lodged an FIR this morning stating that a youth identified as Babulu Soren (32) of his village had been killed and his body was lying near a pond of Bichumunda village.

Soren came to know of the dead body when he had been to the Bichumunda pond to attend to nature’s call this morning. He identified the body of Babulu lying on the spot and his face, ears and eyes wounded. Several people had already gathered on the spot.

Following the FIR, a police team of Sadar police station went to the spot and took the body of Babulu, wearing a grey colour pant and a red colour T-shirt, for post-mortem. Later in the day, his body was handed over to his family members.

Babulu was working as a labourer.

Police suspects the reason of death to be severe blows on his face, eyes and ears.

“We have registered a murder case and now investigating it. We will nab the culprits involved in his murder soon,” said Suchitra Jena, Sub Inspector of Sadar Police station, Sundargarh.
