Boiled milk hurled at tea seller over price of ‘gutkha’ packet in Odisha

Rourkela: A tea seller sustained critical burn injuries after a youth hurled boiled milk at him following an argument over the price of ‘gutkha’ (chewing tobacco) in Rourkela city today afternoon. The tea seller sustained 30% burn injuries and has been undergoing treatment at IGH, Rourkela.

The injured, Manoranjan Nayak was busy at his tea stall near Saranagari Puspa Park today like any other day. When the day’s business was picking up, one Amiya Gauda from Nabakrushna Nagar reached Manoranjan’s shop and asked for a ‘gutkha’ packet.

When Manoranjan told Amiya the price of the ‘gutkha’ packet has gone up and asked for Rs 6 per packet, an argument ensued between them. But the verbal duel became ugly when Amiya hurled the boiled milk kept on a stove at Manoranjan.

With the help of locals, the tea seller was rushed to the IGH, Rourkela.

After being informed, police reached the spot and detained Amiya for questioning.
