Bomb hurled at petrol pump over trivial issue in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: A major mishap was averted after unidentified miscreant hurled a petrol bomb at a filling station at Singapada under the Khandapada block in Nayagarh district in wee hours today.

Fortunately, prompt action by employees of the petrol pump prevented a major mishap as no injury or casualty was reported.

As per reports, one Banambar Majhi (21)  of Patharaganda village under Gadiasahi Panchayat had come to the filling station on Thursday night to buy petrol in a bottle. However, the staff refused to give the same leading to a verbal duel among them. In anger, the youth threatened the staff to blow up the petrol pump and left the spot.

At around 3.30 AM today, the accused came and hurled a petrol bomb at a kiosk of the filling station before fleeing the spot. As soon as the kiosk caught fire, the staff swung into action and managed to douse the flame preventing a major mishap.

The entire incident has been caught on CCTV cameras installed at the site. On receiving information, Khandapada police reached the spot and began an inquiry. A case has also been registered in this connection.
