Bombs hurled at newly-elected Dhenkanal Municipality Chairperson’s house

Dhenkanal: In an incident of post-poll violence, unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled crude bombs at the house of Jayanti Patra, newly-elected chairperson of Dhenkanal Municipality, late last night.

Though no one was injured in the incident, the main gate of the house and some vehicles parked on the premises sustained minor damage.

“I and my family members were sleeping when the bombing took place. Examination of CCTV camera footage revealed that the incident took place around 1.40 am. My political rivals might have involvement in the hurling of bombs,” said Patra.

She also urged the local police to provide protection to her family members.

On being informed, police reached the place and started an investigation into the incident.

Worth mentioning, some miscreants had allegedly resorted to firing in front of her house on March 30 and issued death threat to her. A police complaint was also lodged in this connection.
