BPIA terminal to get makeover in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: In view of increasing number of air passengers at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), the airport authorities decided to provide more facilities on premises of terminal.

Stalls will be set up on premises of the terminal where various items and delicious foods will be made available for the passengers. There will be eight vending machines to provide tea, coffee and soup. The area, which is currently used for commercial purposes, will be expanded three-fold, said BPIA director Suresh Chandra Hota.

As various counters have been allotted for many people at terminal, it looks difficult to maintain beauty of the terminal. Therefore, 13 firms have been invited to be part of the selection process selected that will provide international standard facilities inside Bhubaneswar airport.

As many as 13 firms will take part in the selection process to provide quality service on premises of terminal in the Bhubaneswar airport. One firm will be selected in the process for seven-year contract. As per the decision, there will be stalls at entrance point, security check, check-in counter and longue. The 220 square metre-commercial area will be expanded to 720 square metre. The firm that will be selected for the makeover inside the terminal at BPIA, the airport will collect Rs 23,31,174 as rent fee, said Hota.

Similarly, Rs 20,000 will be spent per square metre area for beautification of the stalls and quality service, he added.
