Brown sugar worth Rs 25 lakh seized in Odisha capital, one held

Bhubaneswar: Brown sugar worth Rs 25 lakh was seized in Bhubaneswar this morning and one person was arrested in this connection.

A joint team of Khandagiri police and Special Squad conducted a raid and seized 300 gms of brown sugar worth Rs 25 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Santosh Panda, a resident of Balanga in Puri district. Brown sugar weighing 300 grams, Rs 2.14 lakh, five mobile phones and a bike have been seized from his possession.

As many as five cases are pending against him in various police stations in Khordha and Puri districts for his alleged involvement in drug peddling.

The accused has been taken into custody for further interrogation and the investigation is underway, said Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu.
