Brown sugar worth lakhs seized, 2 arrested in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested two drug peddlers here and seized brown sugar worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the areas and nabbed the two youths from the Jharpada overbridge.

As pee the available information, brown sugar weighing over 20 gram was recovered from their possession. Besides, police also recovered Rs 5,000 in cash from the arrested duo.

Sources said the accused persons were in police custody and their identities were yet to be revealed.

In the last few months, more than a dozen cases of brown sugar seizure have been reported from the city which has not only created a challenge for the police and excise officials but has also become a concern for the denizens.
