Brown sugar worth Rs 15 lakh seized in Odisha’s Balasore, woman held

Balasore: The Excise department seized 150 gm brown sugar worth Rs 15 lakh during a raid at a house here this morning.

The sleuths arrested a woman identified as Suhela Bibi for possessing huge brown sugar, which was found during the raid at her house at Arada Bazaar in Balasore town.

According to reports, the excise department was tracking the woman’s movements in the past few days following information of illegal brown sugar trade in Arada Bazaar area.

On the basis of information, the excise department officials raided Bibi’s house located on Masjid Street in Arada Bazaar.

The brown sugar seized from the house was brought from Jaleswar area, sources said.
