Brown sugar worth Rs 30 lakh seized in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Excise sleuths today made yet another breakthrough in intercepting four drug runners and seized over 250 grams of brown sugar on Kathajodi bridge in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

Basing on inputs from informers, the Ecxcise officials rushed to the spot and nabbed four persons who were allegedly transporting the contraband from Jaleswar in Balasore district.

The identity of the arrested persons is yet to be known.

The estimated market value of the contraband is worth above Rs 30 lakh, sources said.

A Scorpio was also seized from the spot in which the accused had brought the brown sugar packets and were allegedly selling it to some youths from Bhubaneswar, the sources added.

Further investigation is underway to crack their network, a source in the Excise Department said.
