Over six lakh students will appear the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination—2016 scheduled to begin from February 22 across Odisha for which 305 nodal centres have been set up.
As many as 6, 01, 340 regular and ex-regular students will take the annual Board examinations, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), across 2882 centres, sources said.
“Several measures have been taken for smooth conduct of the examination. Board has set up 305 nodal centres including 22 police stations as nodal centres for for safekeeping of question papers and answer sheets. A total of 6, 01, 340 regular and ex-regular students will write the examinations across 2882 centres in the state,” BSE president Dakhshya Prasad Nanda informed at a press conference here today.
Notably, the Board has introduced online filling up of the annual HSC examination forms for the first time in the state. The online process began from October 28 and ended on November 5 midnight.
It may be mentioned that the Board this year has introduced State Institute of Open School (SIOS) for school drop-out students to give them an opportunity to clear the Matriculation examination. The students who have discontinued their education after seventh class would be eligible to appear for the examination under SIOS system.
The examination would be conducted twice a year and an applicant can attempt for a maximum of 10 times in five years to clear the examination.
In November last week, the BSE had announced the exam schedule.
