BSF jawan detained for attempting to rape minor in running train in Odisha

Police have detained a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan at the Kantabanji railway station in Odisha’s Bolangir district on charges of attempting to rape a minor in a moving train.

Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kantabanji railway station today detained a jawan of the 149 Battalion of the BSF against complaints of him allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl in the AC B-2 coach of Jodhpur-Visakhapatnam Bhagat Ki Kothi Weekly Express, GRP sources said.

Allegedly, the jawan had attempted to rape the minor girl in the running train yesterday night while she was on her way to the lavatory in the AC B-2 coach, the sources added.

According to sources on hearing her screams, her family members rushed to the spot and with the help of co-passengers rescued her from the clutches of the jawan after overpowering him.

Later they handed the accused jawan to the GRP at Kantabanji railway station.
