“This meeting was called by the Pakistani Rangers,” a source said.

Among those who took part in the meeting were V.B. Yadav, deputy commandant of the BSF, and Asim Bhatti, wing commander of the Rangers.

The main objective of the meeting was to maintain a peaceful atmosphere along the international border and ensure that no one violates the 2003 ceasefire.

Farmers in both countries are busy harvesting the paddy crop while the cultivation of wheat would begin shortly.

“Officers of both sides stressed that the farmers have suffered because of cross-border shelling and every effort now needs to be made to help them by maintaining peace on the international border,” the source said.
