BSKY way better than Ayushman Bharat, claims Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: In a befitting reply to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s allegations regarding Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the State’s scheme is better than the Ayushman Bharat as both BPL and APL people will get the benefits under the scheme.

Speaking at a public meeting held on the sidelines of a Padayatra organized by the party in Bhubaneswar-North constituency here, Patnaik said, “Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is a historic step since both BPL and APL persons will get the health benefits under the scheme. It is way better than Ayushman Bharat.”

Challenging the Centre’s scheme, the CM further questioned as to whether any disease sees poor or rich before affecting a person? And, what people not belonging to BPL category will do then?

“The State Government is there for people of both BPL and APL categories,” he added.

Yesterday, the Union Petroleum Minister had accused the State Government is misleading the people of Odisha by giving false advertisement about the benefits of the scheme.

Seeking evidence over Patnaik’s claim on the scheme benefiting over one crore cases within 60 days of its launch, Pradhan had questioned, “How come one crore cases have been registered under BSKY scheme within 60 days, when the total number of people who visit government hospitals in a year is much less?”
