BSNL to discontinue lifetime prepaid plan from Dec 1

Bhubaneswar: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to discontinue its lifetime prepaid plans. The telecom service provider will migrate all customers to the Rs 107 premium per minute plan. The change will come into effect from December 1, 2021.

With this plan, unlimited incoming calls can be availed with a validity of 90 days. The 10GB data can be accessed for 30 days validity, while 100 minutes of outgoing calls can be availed for 24 days. Also, customers can enjoy free BSNL default tunes for 60 days.

The freebies with the plan are 3GB free data to be consumed within 84 days validity with 100 minutes of free voice calling to any network. But users who are migrated from lifetime prepaid to the plan cannot access the freebies.

Earlier this year, BSNL launched new promotional plans to encourage users in the grace period to become active customers. The service provider restricted incoming facility only to prepaid mobile customers in North Zone and West Zone.

BSNL also stopped incoming SMS facilities to all validity expired prepaid mobile customers in East Zone and South Zone. The North Zone and West Zone were allowed to have an incoming SMS facility with a grace period of two customers for 60 days on a promotional basis.

The service provider increased the validity of its Rs 2,399 annual prepaid plan to 425 days validity. The plan originally gave 365 days validity. The plan offers unlimited data with a speed reduced to 80 Kbps after 3GB per day. It also gives access to 100 SMS per day to any network, and will give access to BSNL Tunes and Eros Now content for 425 days.
