BTech student kills self in city

Bhubaneswar, Dec 16 :

A 19-year-old B.Tech student of a city engineering college Nidhi Mittal (19) committed suicide by hanging herself  inside her hostel room on Monday evening, police sources said.

The deceased was a second year  Computer Science student at the CV Raman Engineering College here and hailed from Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district.

Nidhi’s friends said after attending classes today she had refused to take lunch and gone straight to her room (No-311) in the hostel located inside the college campus.

Sources in the college said, her classmates returned to the hostel in the evening and knocked at her door several times but did not get any response.

The door was opened by the college security personnel after her friends reported the matter to the authorities.

A police team led by Zone-3 Assistant Commissioner of Police Pratap Kumar Swain reached the spot along with a scientific team  after college authorities reported the incident to the Khandagiri police station.

Police sources said, they have discovered a suicide note from Nidhi’s room which states that she had ended her life out of depression.

The suicide note, police said, mentions that no one was responsible for her death and has a piece of advice for her brother- to take care of her mother.

The police have taken her body for autopsy which will be conducted tomorrow, sources said.
