Burglars loot 420 gm gold ornaments in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Feb 4:

Burglars looted gold ornaments weighing nearly 420 grams after cutting the back window of a house using gas cutter located barely 25 metre away from Jharpada jail in the Odisha capital last night.

The matter came to light after the owner of the house Karunakara Rao, a staff of Vigilance office in the city, lodged a complaint with Laxmisagar police station today.

Rao said the burglars forcibly entered the house by cutting the back side of his residence window and decamped with 420 grams of gold ornaments and some hard cash after lifting the doors of the almirahs using a steel rod when they were out of the house lats evening.

“After our return, today we found the house had been burgled. The gold ornaments looted were worth more than Rs 10 lakhs,” Rao added.

Police said the loot might have occurred in the night taking advantage of the absence of family members. Investigation is on to nab the culprits, they added.
