Odisha: Bus overturns while trying to save motorcyclists in Puri

Pipli: A private bus en-route to Bhubaneswar turned turtle near Biragobindapur under Sakhigopal police limits in Puri today. A major mishap was averted as no casualty was reported in the accident.

However, eight passengers suffered injures in the mishap and have been hospitalized for treatment.

According to reports, the incident took place at around 8.45 AM when the Sri Durga bus was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Puri. The bus had almost 30 passengers on board. The bus driver lost control over the vehicle while trying to save two motorcyclists travelling on  the same direction. The bus hit the bike and overturned injuring eight persons, including the two motorcyclists.

Soon after, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers.

After receiving information, the fire and police personnel reached and started their rescue operations. The injured were admitted to a Government-run hospital at Sakhigopal. Later, the critically injured persons were shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
