Private Bus services to resume in Odisha from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Private bus services in Odisha will resume from tomorrow, informed Private Bus Owners’ Association Secretary Debendra Sahu today.

The decision was taken after a meeting of the bus owners’ association held earlier today.

Besides, Sahu said social distancing will be maintained in the buses and  the vehicles will be sanitized frequently. He also assured that bus fares will not be increased in view of the prevailing pandemic situation in the state.

Yesterday, a meeting was held between Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera and the bus owners’ association where the body was informed that a letter has been written to the Finance Department regarding tax waiver for bus owners.

Earlier, private bus owners were not ready to resume the services after the Government gave permission for the resumption with 50 per cent occupancy and double fare citing that they may incur loss.
