Bus, truck collide head-on; one killed, 25 injured in Odisha’s Boudh

In a tragic incident, a person was killed and 25 others sustained injuries when a bus and a truck collided head-on on NH-224 near Harekrushnapur Chhak in Odisha’s Boudh district late last night.

The deceased was identified as the driver of the truck. The injured, all hailing from Balangir and Bhawanipatna, were admitted to Puruna Katak hospital. Five of them were later shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla as their condition deteriorated.

According to reports, the accident took place when the bus was on the way to Bhubaneswar from Bhawanipatna. The ill-fated vehicle collided with a speeding truck coming from opposite direction near Harekrushnapur Chhak, sources said.

Puruna Katak police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the incident.
