Businessman shot dead in Odisha’s Baripada; rivalry suspected

Baripada: A businessman was shot dead by unidentified miscreants near Palabani under Baripada Town police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Parthasarathi Das (32) of Naharapada village here.

Family members of Das, who was running a cosmetics shop at Station Bazaar here, telephoned him at around 9 pm yesterday but got no response. The situation remained the same till midnight.

Suspecting foul play, they searched for him and found his body this morning with bullet injury on head lying near his bike at Palabani.

On being informed, police and scientific team reached the spot and started investigation. Though the reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the incident was a fallout of business rivalry.
