Odisha cartoonist brothers enter Limca Book of Records

Cartoonist brothers Aswini and Abani Rath have brought laurels for their home district of Bolangir and Odisha after enlisting their name in the Limca Book of Records.

The two brothers from Kosal Nagar area of Bolangir town, who are in different professions have been engaged in the art of cartooning for nearly 25 years.

A post graduate in Botany and a Law graduate, Aswini is a lecturer in Tarabha College while his brother Abani, a post graduate in Chemistry and a Law graduate, is working as a senior officer in the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India’s Bolangir branch.

The first cartoon of the two brothers was published in monthly Odia magazine ‘Bajravana’ in 1989. Later, their art works were published in several Odia, English and Hindi dailies and magazines. Apart from this, several news websites have also carried their cartoons.

The cartoons of these two brothers from Odisha were displayed at the cartoon gallery at Bengaluru in Karnataka by the Indian Institute of Cartoonists for the first time.

In recognition of their talents and creativity in the cartoon art, the Limca Book of Records enlisted their name recently.
