Case registered against Anandapur MLA Bhagirathi Sethy

Keonjhar: Police have registered a case against Anandapur MLA Bhagirathi Sethy for allegedly misbehaving with a Zilla Parishad Member of Keonjhar district.

The case has been registered under Sections 294 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The legislator had allegedly misbehaved with Aseema Mishra, Zone-3 Zilla Parishad Member of Keonjhar, on 30 August 2022 at the Anandapur Panchayat Samiti meeting.

As per allegation, the lawmaker had abused the Zilla Parishad Member and asked her to leave the meeting.

Mishra had lodged a complaint in this connection with the Anandapur police. However, police didn’t register any case against the MLA.

She had then moved the Orissa High Court seeking registration of case against Sethy.

Hearing the petition, the High Court directed the police to register a case against the MLA.
