Case registered against Odisha MLA for misbehaving with Tahsildar

Sambalpur: The Sambalpur district administration registered a case against BJP MLA from Sambalpur, Jayanarayan Mishra for allegedly misbehaving with Sadar Tahsildar Laxman Amat during an eviction drive.

A senior official of the Khetrajapur police station, where Amat lodged a complaint against Mishra, said that on basis of the FIR, a case has been registered under six sections of IPC. The police official added the case against the legislator has been lodged under Sections 143, 294, 186, 353, 506 and 149 of IPC.

Mishra opposed a drive being carried to evict slum dwellers in Durgapalli area for road expansion work. Also, he had been demanding to rehabilitate the evictees at a place of their choice. After being informed about the opposition, the Sadar Tahsildar reached the place where the eviction drive was being carried out.

Even though the official tried to resolve the matter, Mishra remain adamant about his demand. There was reportedly a brief argument between the official and the legislator. Later the Sadar Tahsildar lodged a police complaint against Mishra.
