‘Cash for vote’ sparks tension at Ramadevi Women’s University in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted at Ramadevi Women’s University in Odisha capital today during students’ union poll over alleged distribution of cash among students to fetch votes.

A group of students alleged that Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) members were offering Rs 500 to students for voting in the favour of the candidate supported by it.

A photo of a student holding a rose flower and a Rs 500 currency note went viral on social media adding fuel to the flame.

However, BCJD has rubbished the allegation.

Worth mentioning, BCJD-backed candidate Soubhagya Soumyashree Samal was elected as president of students’ union of Rama Devi Women’s University.
