Cash, jewellery, narcotics seized from UTPs at Choudwar jail

Following a surprise raid, the police seized cash, jewellery and narcotics from under-trial prisoners inside Choudwar Circle Jail premises here this morning.

Briefing newsmen here, Additional DCP of Cuttack Satyananda Sethi said eight platoons of armed police force led by Choudwar police and senior district officials raided the jail at about 5 AM.

During the three-hour raid, police seized cash, jewellery and narcotics from some UTPs.

“The police had the information that such illegal activities of the UTPs were going on inside the jail premises in connivance with some of the jail staff. Investigation is on in the matter,” the Additional DCP said.
