Casting couch: Odisha actor files defamation suit against producer

Ollywood female actor Sarmistha Priyadarshini has filed a defamation case gainst producer Bini Samal in a local court in Odisha capital for allegedly maligning her character, sources close to the complainant said today.

Sarmistha filed Rs 5 crore defamation suit against Bini at Civil court (Senior Division) here. Besides, she also filed a criminal case against her in the SDJM court here for tarnishing her image.

She alleged that Bini made several false accusations against her during a television show on Kanak News involving the duo.

The actor had earlier brought casting couch allegations against six persons from the industry including Bini Samal.

She had lodged an FIR against Directors Chandi Parija and Tapas Sargariha, producers Bini Samal, her husband Nihar Samal, Subrat Nayak and event manager Bapi Jena with the Mahila Police Station here over casting couch allegations.

However, the accused have managed to obtain anticipatory bail from Orissa High Court.
