Cattle-laden truck overturns in Odisha; 13 cows, helper killed
Cuttack: A cattle-laden truck overturned at Madhupatna Chhak in Odisha’s Cuttack early this morning killing 13 cows and helper of the vehicle.
The driver of the truck was grievously injured in the accident and has been hospitalised.
According to reports, the ill-fated truck with around 50 cows on-board was on the way to Sambalpur from Khordha.
The driver of the truck lost control over the wheels following which it turned turtle.
Tension gripped the spot after the incident as members of Gau Rakshak staged a road blockade at Madhupatna Chhak.
On being informed, police officials rushed to the site.
The autopsy of the dead cows will be conducted and the injured ones were shifted to veterinary hospital for treatment, an official of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) said.
