Bhubaneswar, Nov 2:
A six-member team of State Crime, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alok Das left for Rayagada on Saturday to probe the killing of the Tikiri UP school teacher Itishree Pradhan.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered a crime branch probe into the sensational case on Friday evening, hours after the victim died in the Seven Hills hospital in Vishakhapatnam. He had also asked the police to arrest the other accused in the case within 24 hours, a daunting task.
The main accused in the case, school sub inspector Netrananda Dandasena was arrested from Seshakhal on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border on Thursday.
Itishree’s last rights were performed at her native village in Puri district today.
Itishree, a siksha sahayika at primary school teacher in Tikiri, was set ablaze by an unknown assailant on the school premises on Sunday last. She died at the Seven Hills Hospital in Visakhapatnam on Friday morning after fighting for life for five days.
