CBI arrests Odisha lawyer on the run since 26 years

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a lawyer for his alleged complicity in fraud in postal department.

According to reports, the accused identified as Duryodhan Mohanty was apprehended by the central investigating agency who was on the run since 26 years. Mohanty is accused of siphoning of funds while he was working with India Post.

Mohanty was working as post master of Khaira post office in 1990 when allegation of financial misappropriation was leveled against him. Later, he quit his job and was practicing as a lawyer.

Cases pertaining to economic offences were slapped against him following which the Orissa High Court had issued non-bailable warrant against him.

The investigation was handed over to CBI. Since then, he was on the run. He has been arrested from Khaira in the district.
