CBI-police face-off: Mamata to consult Odisha CM, other leaders over dharna
Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said she will consult with her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik over continuation of dharna staged by her since Sunday night over the CBI-police face-off issue in Kolkata.
On being asked if she will continue the sit-in or not, Mamata said she will hold talks with leaders of other states over the matter. “I will also consult with Naveen Patnaik Ji in this regard,” she told a news agency.
“Let me talk to the leaders. I don’t go alone. We are not alone. I will consult the main opposition leaders of all the parties who extended their support to us,” the Trinamool Congress supremo said.
Mamata also welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict in a CBI plea against Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar that ordered against his arrest and termed it a “moral victory”.
The apex court directed Kumar to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Saradha chit fund case at a “mutual place” and asked the probe agency not to take any coercive action against the officer, including arrest.
