CBSE Result row: Board withdraws writ petition from Odisha HC

Cuttack: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today withdrew from Orissa High Court the writ petition filed by it against the re-evaluation of answer sheets of 18 Class-XII students who had moved the court alleging discrepancies in the board exam results.

CBSE’s move comes a day after a delegation of parents of the aggrieved students accompanied by Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar at New Delhi.

Following the meeting, the board had agreed to withdraw the writ petition and abide by the directions of the High Court in future.

It had also agreed to extend the deadline for re-evaluation by one week for 9000 affected students.

Worth mentioning, the CBSE had received the High Court order to re-evaluate the answer sheets of 18 students and publish results.

Notably, results of many students in Bhubaneswar zone of the board were kept withheld. Similarly, many students had complained of faulty evaluation leading to their poor marks.
