CDMO of Odisha’s Baleswar dist booked under PCPNDT Act

The Odisha government today registered a case against Baleswar Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Anup Ghosh for violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.

The case was registered at the Sahadev Khunta police station by the Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Baleswar Dr Bana Bihari Das Mohapatra on the orders of the district collector .

A portable ultrasound machine was seized from a clinic owned by CDMO Dr Anup Ghosh by a Health department team, headed by Ranjita Patnaik, during raids on clinics and residences of doctors in the district headquarters town on November 28.

The team had also seized another portable ultrasound machine from a nursing home Kausalya Memorial owned by Dr Sudhir Kumar Ghosh during the raid.

On the orders of the district collector, ADMO Das Mohapatra also registered a case against Dr Sudhir Kumar Ghosh, owner of Kaushalya Memorial nursing home, under the PCPNDT Act at the Town police station today.
